Purpose: To increase the healthcare provider’s knowledge on nicotine dependence and smoking cessation, including the use of e-cigarettes and tobacco use in youth, as well as strategies to help patients quit the use of tobacco

Learning Objectives:

  • Summarize current epidemiological data related to tobacco use, including the prevalence in youth.
  • List common health conditions associated with the use of tobacco products, including e-cigarettes.
  • Identify communication techniques for the screening of patients, including pediatrics, for smoking or vaping.
  • Develop treatment recommendations for treatment of smoking cessation and nicotine dependence.
