About Me
Nerissa is the Assistant Director of Academic Detailing, Medicaid Services at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Retzky College of Pharmacy. She is a clinical pharmacist and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (UIC 1999), Master of Science in Psychiatric Rehabilitation Counseling (Boston University 2001), and Doctor of Pharmacy (UIC 2012). Her career spans 25 years, with 14 years in management roles, in healthcare settings including psychiatric hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and managed care. Highlights include creating psychosocial programs, managing vocational rehabilitation programs for refugees, conducting crisis interventions for mental health services, reviewing prior authorizations, implementing pharmacy rotation programs, and building and sustaining academic detailing programs. Nerissa’s primary interests are psychiatric pharmacy, mental health, and collaborating with clinicians to yield effective prescribing practices, enhance education, and improve overall patient outcomes. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, traveling, foodie adventures, and event planning.
